Today I am taking a quick break from my "chronicle" of my trip to the Guild and have a very special congratulation to extend.
Today is my mom and dad's 22nd wedding anniversary!
Yes, on August 20th, 1990, two eighteen-year-olds- fresh graduates from high school- took the plunge and got married. Everybody thought that it was a huge mistake- it would never last. Two high-schoolers? He, the star of every high school play- the boy with the golden voice. She, the timid behind-the-scenes girl. What were they thinking?
They weren't.
God was.
He has given them nine children- nine arrows to be sharpened and carefully cared for- that will, hopefully, one day do amazing things for the kingdom of God.
The testimonies that He has given them are astounding. The stories of the trials and the miracles that they have seen blow me away- even in their simplicity.
Daddy, Momma,
I just want to thank you for your faithfulness to each other and to God.
Your devotion is something that I never cease to admire and earnestly desire for myself one day in my own marriage.
The fact that you decided to trust God with your womb- that you would be willing to lay everything on the line- sacrifice your own time, leisure, hobbies, and whatever else so that you might fulfill God's commission to "Be fruitful and multiply" is an inspiration to me. May I be so devoted to God's will!
The picture that you paint in our home of Christ's love for his Bride- and her devotion to His glorification is one of such beauty and tenderness. You both are continually lights and role-models to us children- we are forever grateful for that "mistake" that you made twenty-two years ago...
Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!
Love,
Amy
"How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,
Who walks in His ways.
When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands,
You will be happy and it will be well with you.
Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine
Within your house,
Your children like olive plants
Around your table.
Behold, for thus shall the man be blessed
Who fears the Lord.
The Lord bless you from Zion,
And may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
Indeed, may you see your children’s children.
Peace be upon Israel!"
~Psalm 128
That was so sweet honey, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love you!
Mommy
Unless the Lord builds the house-
ReplyDeleteI can take no credit for the past 22 years. All I put my hands on quickly falls apart. I have found that its only in letting go that we have become a family.
Thank you, Amy, for your patience in the slow and sometimes very painful process of the refining its taken to become the people we will eventually be. (how does that make sense?)
I love you, and your Momma more than even I know...
